I guess not even glamour and fame can protect your health. It’s true that sometimes even the big Hollywood celebs get sick. Here are the stars that have been recently battling some sort of sickness. Some serious, some not so serious and some that I can’t even believe made it to the headlines.

Nicole Richie’s fiance and baby daddy, Joel Madden is thought to have cataracts. These make him more sensitive to bright lights and so he usually will be seen wearing sunglasses.

Salma Hayek is currently over her health issues, at least until she decides to have another baby. The Hayek suffered from gestational diabetes when she was pregnant with her baby girl. Although she appears to be back in full health, this type of diabetes is not only known to recur with a subsequent pregnancy, it can also place the person at risk for Type 2 diabetes.

Valerie Bertinelli who has been busy promoting her new book that goes into great detail about her marriage to Eddie Van Halen won’t give up any information about his illness. The details of what he’s suffering from are unknown but he is undergoing tests and he has beaten cancer before.

And moving on to mental health issues, although Britney Spears has been showing signs of improvement, it’s still not enough for the courts who is keeping her father as conservator for the troubled star until July 31.

And lastly, it came out this past week that Patrick Swayze is suffering from pancreatic cancer. No scandal involved here, but heartbreaking nonetheless. We can only hope that his treatments are going as well as his reps are saying they are. He is currently travelling to Stanford University’s cancer centre every day, with his wife Lisa Niemi.

Both of them are train wrecks really, which is sad, because Eddie Van Halen is a babe, not to mention, a god of rock. Valerie Bertinelli on the other hand, just looks like one of those chicks that might do you dirty. Honestly, the two of them can’t even figure out which one screwed around on the other first. That’s ridiculous. From Yahoo News:

“CHICAGO - Valerie Bertinelli says despite her girl-next-door image, her marriage to Eddie Van Halen was hurt by infidelity and drug use — by her, too. “I wasn’t an angel, either. I cheated, too,” Bertinelli said on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” broadcast Monday. “He claims to this day that I cheated first, but I don’t know. I don’t know about the timing.”

Bertinelli, who starred in the long-running sitcom “One Day at a Time,” married Van Halen in 1981 when she was 20. She said she was “destroying my body,” trying to keep up with a rock-star lifestyle on the weekends and weeks off from taping her TV show.

“It got to a point where whenever I heard the birds chirp, I’d be like, `Oh, God, no.’ It took me years after stopping the cocaine before I was able to enjoy a sunrise and enjoy the sound of birds,” she said.

The couple separated in 2001. Their divorce became final in December. They have a son, Wolfgang, who’s now 16 and touring as bassist with the band Van Halen.

The actress, 47, said she has struggled with body-image issues since she was a child, but especially turned to food for comfort as her marriage dissolved.

Bertinelli is now a spokeswoman for Jenny Craig and said she’s lost 40 pounds. She has a new book, “Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time.”

Van Halen’s publicist said the musician had no comment on Bertinelli’s book or interviews to promote it.”

I don’t get the title of the book, but okay. Honestly, I think rock star marriages are of the most volatile. Moreso because women enter into it with …what thoughts in their head? Pussy is getting thrown at them in every direction from girls younger, and prettier. The older a woman gets, the younger the girls who are leaving scratch marks on your man. Sad but true, and being faithful and loyal to your spouse is as much of a joke now, as it was a hundred years ago.

Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli have been together for ages, not to mention, having lived through a lot as well. Just think… twenty-six years; the couple survived through marital issues, career differences, raising a son, Madonna’s early music, and leg warmers. From TMZ:

“TMZ has confirmed that rocker Eddie Van Halen and actress/Jenny Craig pitchwoman Valerie Bertinelli are officially single. Why can’t this be love?

Sources close to Ed and Val tell TMZ that the divorce was amicable; they still get together with each other (and their new squeezes) — and they’re both devoted to raising their 16-year-old son, Wolfgang.

Bertinelli originally filed in December of 2005. The two had been married since 1981! Their son is currently on tour with dad’s band.

It’s been a crappy couple of weeks for Eddie — just 10 days ago, a water main burst near his home, sending thousands of gallons of water into his front yard.

Last March, Eddie checked himself into rehab, delaying the start of the Van Halen tour.”

So, apparently, even though Valerie actually first filed for divorce ages ago, it is just now becoming official. At Eddie and Valerie parted on good terms, and stay devoted to their child; you don’t see that often. Britney and Kevin for example, –who knows what the hell they’re devoted to, but it sure as hell isn’t their children.
