Will Ellen and Portia have Kids?

Well this past Saturday saw Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi celebrating equal rights by exchanging vows and getting married. It seems that with those rights, they have also gained rights that every other couple who decides to get married inherit - the question about children. Apparently, there are people who need to know when this couple (who haven’t even been married a week) will have children! Portia, who has overnight become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars due to the ceremony, is trying to slow down the questions with grace while Ellen stays true to herself and brushes the question off with laughter. From Contact Music,

“The couple, who wed at their Beverly Hills, California home on Saturday (16Aug08), want to enjoy their own time before thinking about children.
But they admit it’s a possibility in the future. De Rossi says: “We go back and forth. I don’t know if it’s in our immediate future. It’s something we talk about every few months. We’ll know when the time is right if we’re going to do it.”
And DeGeneres jokes that their decision rests solely on looks: “If they would be as pretty as Brad and Angelina’s kids, we might.”

I do think it’s a little early to start talking children and it does really bother me when people feel that they need to scoop up ten children from around the world all at once. I’m not mentioning any names, Ellen’s already done that for me. But I hope these two get the time they want and need to enjoy being together and I think these two could become one of the world’s funnest couples to watch!

Aw, Ellen and Portia are Married!!

Well it was announced on Friday that the nuptials between Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were to be exchanged on Saturday and true to the reports, they were. Unlike other celebrity weddings, where you only hear about it after the fact or it’s so intimate that photographers can only catch glimpses of cars coming two miles away, Ellen opened her doors to at least one photographer to let us in on her gorgeous wedding. Here’s what the Gossip Girls had to say about the celebration,

“According to insiders on-hand, the tight-knit ceremony was attended by only about 20 guests or so, with Ellen and Portia posing for pictures with Ellen’s mom and their dogs, capturing what was an oh-so-special moment.

“They were hugging and kissing, and looked ecstatic,” an onlooker tells Us magazine. “Ellen was helping Portia with the train of her dress, which looked like a Cinderella tutu.”

I love these two separately and I love them together! I think they make such a cute couple and I’m so happy that they could make it official legally. No matter your beliefs, you should always be able to share your love and make that deep commitment to one another. No matter who you are.

Ellen and Portia’s Big Day is Here!!!

It’s no secret that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been planning a wedding even before the state of California declared same-sex marriage to be legal. What is just being reported however, is that the wedding is actually going to take place this weekend! Ellen had tried to throw people off, I think, by announcing that it would be in the fall but the paparazzi seem to be too smart for that as it is now being told (to everyone) that it will happen sooner and details such as the location of the ceremony are being leaked. In true Hollywood fashion, the couple plans to get married outside of their luxury estate in front of a chosen few family and friends. As with everything else, Ellen has handled wedding plans with humor and grace. From Daily Mail,

De Rossi will walk down the aisle in a flowing Zac Posen gown, while DeGeneres is expected to wear a trouser suit.

Speaking of their planned nuptials earlier this year, the multi-Emmy winning TV presenter said: ‘It’s something that we’ve wanted to do and we want it to be legal and we are very, very excited.

‘I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous that we don’t all have the same rights.

‘Planning a wedding is very stressful. It’s crazy. My gardener is now invited.’”

I’m very happy for these two and am now just wondering, is Oprah really going to officiate? I guess we’ll find out all the juicy details after this weekend. These two truly seem happy and in love and I think that Ellen is right in saying that it’s ridiculous that the gay community doesn’t have the same rights as everyone else.

Will Oprah Become a Minister?

Ellen DeGeneres announced back in May that her and her betrothed, Portia de Rossi would be officially married this summer after California decided that same-sex marriage should be allowed. We all knew that the wedding would be a grand affair and that only the hottest stars in Hollywood would be in attendance. However, it seems as though one of those guests may be showing up as something else - the minister! Ellen has decided that she wants Oprah Winfrey to officiate her wedding and now all Oprah has to do is accept the invitation. From the Pop Crunch Show,

“When Ellen DeGeneres weds longtime lover Porti de Rossi in California this Fall the Emmy-winning talk show hostess is hoping the Queen of Talk will officiate the ceremony, a new report from Star Magazine claims.

“Oprah is definitely invited to the wedding, but Ellen wants her to play a bigger role,” the tabloid insider squeals. “Ellen wants her to be the minister.”

El and O became buddies in 1997 when the billionairess guest-starred on the landmark “Coming Out” episode of the comeidienne’s ABC sitcom.”

I think this is a fabulous idea. I mean really, hasn’t Oprah already conquered just about every other aspect of this world by continuing to add to her long list of “things I’ve done”? Why shouldn’t she be a minister too? I just really love Oprah and would love to see her do just about anything! I really love Ellen as well and think that this will really add to the wedding and show what this couple is all about - fun and friends!

As a side note, I really love Portia’s hair in this pic and think that she should keep it short.

The Latest Updates on the Hottest Stars

This week’s wrap up is a little bit of everything as stars are busy hooking up, breaking up, having babies and of course, dodging rumors. Here’s what’s happening in Tinseltown this week.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have set a date for their wedding, which will now legally take place in California. It seems that they want to keep us guessing because although they’ve announced that they set a date, exactly which date that is has yet to be revealed. What they have said is that the wedding will be bigger and better than anything anyone’s ever seen and that there will be number of famous people there, some of whom will sing. Really? At a wedding for a couple of celebrities? Still so happy for these two though!

And Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are most happy to report that they are still together and they are still very happy. Jenn is currently spending time with her singer boyfriend in the United Kingdom while he’s on tour. There are also rumors floating around that Jenn “accidentally” proposed to John during one of their long walks on the beach (sigh) but these seem to be completely untrue. Jenn did however, introduce him to her dad.

Another happy duo in Hollywood these days is Bill Murray and his wife, Jennifer Murray. Or should I say ex-wife. The two surprised everyone with the announcement that they were divorcing just this past May and they are no doubt thrilled at the expediency of the courts now it is final. Despite allegations Bill Murray made about his wife this past month about her being dangerous around their children, she has been granted full custody of their four children.

Britney Spears hasn’t been granted full custody but she is making headway on the kids front. She recently requested that her visitation rights be reviewed and she asked for more. No details have been revealed just yet but it’s thought that Britney asked for overnights with her kids and she’s been given them! What may be even more impressive is that Britney appeared in court properly dressed and in a professional manner. The girl is coming back!

And one rumor that was dispelled very quickly was the story about Michelle Williams being so angry with Heath Ledger’s family that she has stopped seeing them and kept Matilda, the daughter she had with Heath, away from them. The story was so ludicrous that hardly anyone - except New York Post, who ran the story originally - even bothered to report on it. But now you know, in case you come across it!

Ellen Deals with Registry Riff-Raff

ellen1.jpgEllen has been in the news a lot lately after she made the announcement that she would be married to Portia de Rossi. We all knew that there would be a lot of talk of wedding happenings but who would have thought that the couple’s wedding gifts would make news? This from Celebedge,

When Ellen DeGeneres announced she was marrying longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi, she joked she was registered at Crate & Barrel. Well, some enterprising con artist actually registered in Ellen’s name.

“Some people started already buying gifts and sending [them to] this person,” Ellen said.

The talk champ stressed that she doesn’t want any wedding gifts from her fans, although hopefully she’ll accept the one offered by Justin Timberlake. J.T. said he would take everything Ellen wanted to say and everything Portia wanted to say and put it into an original song for the ceremony.”

There are many elements of this story that are just wrong. I just think it’s weird when people send celebrities stuff anyway but do people really think that celebs will broadcast information like that, in the hopes of receiving presents from fans? And what kind of twisted person sees this on Ellen and immediately devises a plan to steal her wedding gifts? I also just don’t like Justin Timberlake in general but it is a very nice sentiment on his part to want to do that for her.

Ellen DeGeneres Pressures McCain

mccain.jpgEllen DeGeneres has proven once again what a classy lady she is. After hearing that Presidential hopeful John McCain, a known conservatist, was going to appear on her show Thursday, everyone began talking about the two duking it out on-stage about the gay marriage issue. The timing is appropriate as well as Ellen has just announced her pending nuptials to Portia de Rossi. The two obviously have two very different views and it’s nice to see how Ellen handles herself extremely well, put McCain under some pressure and got her point across very well while remaining dignified about the entire conversation. Here is some of that interview provided by US,

“I just believe in the unique status of marriage between man and woman,” McCain said. “And I know that we have a respectful disagreement on that issue.”

DeGeneres, who has campaigned for Hillary Clinton, compared a ban on gay marriage to the time when “blacks and women did not have the right to vote.

“We are all the same people, all of us,” said DeGeneres, who just celebrated her 50th birthday party. “You’re no different than I am. Our love is the same.”

McCain responded: “People should be able to enter into legal agreements, and I think that is something we should encourage, particularly in the case of insurance and other areas.”

Keeping the senator on the hot seat, DeGeneres replied, “When someone says, ‘You can have a contract, and you’ll still have insurance and you’ll get all that, it sounds to me like saying, ‘Well you can sit there; you can’t sit there.

“It doesn’t feel inclusive… it feels… isolated,” she added.

McCain admitted that DeGeneres’ argument was “in a very eloquent fashion,” and that he “along with many, many others, wish [her] every happiness.”

DeGeneres told McCain she was “planning on having a ceremony this summer anyway, even though it wasn’t legal.

“Then it just happened that I legally now can get married, like everyone should,” DeGeneres said.

“We just have a disagreement,” continued McCain.

“So, you’ll walk me down the aisle?” DeGeneres joked.

McCain responded: “Touche.”

Not only is it good to see celebrities taking a stand for something that is truly important to them but it’s also nice to know that not all celebs think that they need to go Rosie O’Donnell and start screaming and slandering everything in sight. Nicely put, Ellen. Keep fighting the good fight.
