The idea of marriage is sometimes quite laughable in Hollywood and here’s one that will have us rolling on the floor. Apparently, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have gotten married after rumors were spreading for a whole five days that the two were engaged. From Gossip Girls,

“In the latest installment of celebrities rushing to the altar, there are confirmed reports that Mariah Carey has wed her short-lived boyfriend Nick Cannon.

According to Latina magazine, the newlyweds got hitched in a small ceremony on an island yesterday in a move that insiders are calling “very impulsive.”

I’m sure this marriage has every chance of survival. I mean, the two have been dating for a whole two months and Cannon directed the video for Carey’s lastest song “Bye Bye.” Not only that but Mariah took him with her to the premiere of her new movie Tennessee on Saturday. What else do you need as the foundation for a good movie? Give me a break, people! I predict this marriage will last no longer than sixty days. And even that might be a stretch.

Haha! Serves her right. Sorry, guys, but Mariah Carey to me is just so… ew. You rarely see her wearing an entire outfit; whereas other celebrities occasionally cover themselves up. Then there’s the whole Mariah Carey issue with her completely blowing off her fans, and her weird attitude about children. So when rumors start in about how Nick Cannon gives her the same ring he gave to his first fiance, well, there you go. From InTouch:

“Yes, Mariah Carey is sporting a massive rock on her engagement ring. But does the diva realize it’s possibly a hand-me-down? Mariah’s new bling, a $2.5 million stunner made with rare pink and purple diamonds, looks suspiciously like the engagement ring her fiancé Nick Cannon gave to his last fiancée, Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks. A source close to Selita even confirmed to Perezhilton.com, “That is the same ring.” If that’s true, one can only imagine the deafening noise that five-octave-spanning voice is making right now. ”

It’s true that even from far away, the rings do look similar, but that’s not exactly a major deal. What counts is the supposedly “close source”; although that could mean zip too. I have to honestly admit though… I hope it’s true. This could have all been avoided if Nick Cannon’s first fiance had been just a little more selfish, and kept the ring.

There are very few, if any,  celebrities that I hate more than Mariah Carey. It’s been nauseating to sit through all of her interviews and the rest of the media coverage listening to her go on and on about her new album that’s coming out. I think it’s called, “Yup! I’m still crazy!”

Now she has managed to squirm her way into the spotlight because it was taken off her for a moment or two. She attended the party for her own independent film Tennessee on Saturday with her boyfriend Nick Cannon. As she waltzed through the room swinging her hair, she ever-so-nonchalantly made sure that all the cameras were focused on her - and the rock she was wearing on her hand which is just so cheesy looking anyway. But that’s Mariah for you. From Celebitchy,

“Wearing a humongous, gleaming ring on her left hand, Mariah Carey stayed close to Nick Cannon at the afterparty for her new film, Tennessee, on Saturday night. The pair held hands at the bash at Tenjune, which followed the movie’s premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. The two also looked cozy in Vegas on April 14. When asked about a possible engagement, Cannon’s rep had no comment; Carey’s was unable to be reached for comment.”

Hopefully this latest publicity stunt will pass and we can finally stop having to look at Mariah.
