Kanye West has broken up with his fiance, Alexis Phifer. The hip-hop star broke off the engagement being very vague in his reasoning and telling her that it simply wouldn’t work between the two. But breaking her heart wasn’t enough for Kanye. He had to also ask her for his ring back because with his millions, he can’t afford to just be giving away bling. From Black Voices,

“Sources close to the hip-hop star tell me that it was West who ended the engagement after revealing to Phifer: “I just don’t think it is going to work out anymore.”
The 30-year-old entertainer even asked for his ring back! The often-controversial rapper/producer got engaged to Phifer while overseas in the fall of 2006. The two met when Phifer worked as the assistant to West’s fulltime wardrobe stylist.

A graduate from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in
California, Phifer is working on a clothing line and has already designed some dresses that have been worn by artists like Lil’ Mo.
Sources close to the couple claim she was also helping West develop his forthcoming Pastelle clothing line.

The Chicago-raised rapper had been dating Phifer on and off since 2002. The couple broke up in 2004 and he began dating an executive assistant at MTV named Brooke Crittendon.

I guess Kanye has gotten over his heartfelt words (or not so much) after his mother’s passing in November. At that time he was all about forgetting his ego and paying attention to the things in life that are truly important and not being so worried about making money. I am actually very happy for Alexis that this has happened and I hope that she will be able to keep Kanye out of her life once and for all.

Kanye West had everyone talking - and crying - this year at the Grammy Awards when he paid tribute to his mother with a very special performance. I’m not even that big of a Kanye fan but it was hard to deny the emotions that he evoked on the stage that night. He has nowo come out with some endearing words for his mother. From Celebitchy,

“Rapper Kanye West says he’s been putting his priorities in place since his mother’s death. “If there’s anything my mom taught me [it] is to enjoy life,” West, 30, wrote on his blog on Wednesday. “I don’t do anything I don’t love anymore … While people chase money I pursue happiness.”

West’s mother died of heart disease and other factors Nov. 10th – one day after undergoing cosmetic surgery. The rapper paid tribute to his mom at this year’s Grammy Awards. On his blog, the multiple Grammy winner also wrote about the joys of making new music and recording “my first verse in the last six months” two days earlier in Japan.

“It felt good and I was inspired … tragedy can produce great art and this is definitely true … life is good … good as finding the perfect fabric for a simple one button casual blazer with matching pants.”

While I wouldn’t compare the death of my mother to a blazer, the sentiment is nice all the same. I do hate it when people who have more money than they could ever know what to do with, speak about how it’s not important to them and there are better things in life. Of course you don’t care about it and of course there are better things! But I think we’re all willing to let Kanye slide a little bit as he grieves for his mom.

His words are touching, there’s no denying that and my heart goes out to anyone who has lost a parent.

I don’t know about all the speculation on whether or not Lindsay Lohan is gay, lesbian, bisexual, whatever. The attention that Lohan’s sexuality gets is astronomical. If you’d been to the parties Lohan was going to a few months back, it’s amazing that PETA wasn’t involved. Who knows who was screwing, making out, whatever with who or what? People that are really blitzed, do occasionally find things like potted plants sexually attractive. So why the big deal about Lindsay being a lesbian/bi? From InTouch:

“Lindsay Lohan has sparked headlines about her sexuality with rumors that she’s dating DJ Samantha Ronson, but a friend tells In Touch that she’s not gay. Wayne Joffe, a pal of Lindsay’s and designer of the Wayne Hadly collection, says: “Lindsay is friends with Sam — she isn’t a lesbian!” Lindsay, 21, was at Goa in LA on March 27 with Sam, 30, but the DJ was the furthest thing from her mind. “Lindsay was hitting on Kanye West,” says an onlooker. “She was trying to talk to him all night until he finally asked her to join him at his table.” Lindsay has recently been wearing a ring with Sam’s initials.”

What’s the big issue with Lindsay being gay anyway? Maybe it would be a nice change for her, to break away from all the losers she’s been hanging around with. That Riley moron will probably be putting dirty videos of Lindsay on the Internet within the next year. Lindsay, if you are gay, more power to you. And pssst…. Kanye West is a weirdo, stick with chicks.

According to the National Enquirer, Kanye West has been enlightened as to just how quickly life passes us by, after the untimely and shocking loss of his mother, and he has decided to marry his fiancee, Alexis Phifer as soon as the holidays are over. From the National Enquirer:

“Kanye West has a heart-rending final tribute planned for his late mother - he intends to marry longtime fiancee Alexis Phifer right after the holidays.

“His mother’s sudden death brought into focus just how short life really is. Kanye doesn’t want to wait any longer to make Alexis his wife,” a family friend told The Enquirer.

“He believes that this is what his mom would want him to do…”

“Kanye knew how much his mother loved Alexis and how she was looking forward to seeing them get married,” continued the source.”

Awww. Poor Kanye. Hopefully this is the right move, and he isn’t just jumping the gun for sentimental reasons. I mean, it may have been what his mother wanted, which is great and all, but Kanye should also remember that this is the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Treat him right, Alexis!

Kanye West, one of my very most favorite musicians, gets a spot tonight, for the loss of his mother, Donda, who encouraged his career, and supported him throughout his life, in all aspects. Although it might not be Britney Spears, screwing her mailman, this truly is, ladies and gentlemen, thoroughly heartbreaking. From People:

“Donda West, the mother and onetime manager of rapper Kanye West, died Saturday in Los Angeles.

A spokesperson for the family had no other details at this time.

West, 58, a retired professor and former chairwoman of the Chicago State University English department, was a tireless supporter of her son as he both earned success and stirred up controversy.

“Kanye likes to think as a hobby and speak his own mind. He was always like that,” Donda West told InStyle earlier this year. “He came out of the womb looking like he had that attitude.”

As CEO of West Brands LLC and co-founder of the Kanye West Foundation, she teamed with her son to develop a nonprofit that aimed to combat the dropout problem in high schools in 2005. In May, she released the book Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar.”

I honestly think, that despite all the criticism that Kanye West receives for his songs, and the lyrics of his hip-hop, and even some of the crazy stuff he has said, that he is a great person, and has done more for the world than a lot of celebrities can say.
