At a golf tournament in South Africa the other day, the two famous sports celebrities, Greg Norman and Chris Evert announced the engagement. Both of them have been divorced in the past year from their spouses, and seem to have found what they were looking for. From People:
“Sports legends Chris Evert and Greg Norman are engaged, they told the press at a golf tournament in South Africa on Friday.
The couple got engaged last Sunday while traveling to South Africa from the U.S., Evert, 52, revealed to reporters while announcing a new tennis center she is building, according to Reuters.
Asked about wedding plans, she said, “Well, it is an engagement ring. … We don’t know when and where we’ll be married though.”
Norman, 52, declined to add anything extra, leading Evert to joke, “Why don’t you say something to them? Gee, you’re a big chicken!”
Evert, a former tennis champion, and Norman, a top pro golfer, both split from their spouses in the past year – Evert from her husband of 18 years, skiing champ Andy Mill, and Norman from his wife of 25 years, Laura.”
Sounds as though Chris is more of a people person than Greg is, possibly more extroverted, while he seems to prefer keeping his private life, private. Chris might be just the thing he needs, or possibly, an obnoxious tart, depending on how things work out; everyone knows celebrity marriages are expendable. Only time will tell.
