Gary Coleman Didn’t Want to Die

garyObviously. What that title actually means is that Gary Coleman had an official document that stated that he did not want the plug pulled on him should he ever be in that situation. And as we all know, Shannon Price, Gary’s ex-wife, pulled the plug on him after he’d only been hooked up to life support for a day. So, does anyone else smell something fishy going on? I would think that Shannon Price, the doctor that allowed this to happen, or both, should be in a heap load of trouble. This latest report comes from TMZ, who seem to have an uncanny ability of getting official documents that no one would otherwise usually see. From TMZ,

“TMZ has obtained legal documents signed by Gary Coleman in 2006 in which the actor specifically directed that he did not want anyone to pull the plug on him … if he was ever in that situation.

The documents were ironically filed by Shannon Price — Gary’s ex-wife — the person who authorized doctors to take Gary off life support last month. Price has filed the docs in an effort to be granted control over the disposition of Gary’s body.

Among the documents filed today by Shannon is a health care power of attorney which Gary filled out in 2006. Under the heading “Instructions for Health Care” — Gary checked a box titled “Choice to Prolong Life” which states, “I want my life to be prolonged as long as possible within the limits of generally accepted health care standards.”

Does one day of being on life support sound like being “within the limits of generally accepted health care standards”? No, it didn’t to me either. And I was almost willing to give Shannon Price the benefit of the doubt when she gave that horrible interview to TMZ the day after Gary Coleman died due to the fact that she was in shock and whatnot. But the more I hear about this chick, the more I just think she was a truly horrible and awful human being. First trying to sell pictures of him on his deathbed and then it comes out that he never, ever wanted the plug pulled on him unless all other forms of treatment had been exhausted. What else is there to say except that I hope Shannon Price burns for what she’s done, and for the things she is doing.
