Backstreet Who? Got Engaged

Okay, I have to admit that when I first found out that a former Backstreet Boy had gotten engaged, I couldn’t help but wonder why we are still talking about the Backstreet Boys. Really, didn’t we all listen tothem ten years ago? And weren’t we all ashamed then that we listened to them? But whether the world has or has not forgotten about the Backstreet Boys, and they have certainly faded from the top of the music industry, wild child of the group AJ MacLean has not lost touch with his musical roots. And he even incorporated them into his marriage proposal.

AJ was performing at a club in Las Vegas this past weekend when he was in the middle of a solo and waited until the stroke of midnight, to get down on one knee and propose to his girlfriend. Even if I don’t care about the Backstreet Boys, or even AJ MacLean really, this is worth reading just for the story alone. It’s just a good ol’ fashioned romance! From US,

“Backstreet Boy AJ McLean is making it official.

McLean, 32, proposed to his girlfriend Rochelle Deanna Karidis while performing solo in Las Vegas on Friday night, has learned.

“AJ dropped down to one knee and said that they had been dating for a long time and [he] wanted to know if she would marry him,” a source tells Us. “Of course she said ‘yes,’ and they left the club shortly after this happened.”

Another witness tells E! News that the singer bought a “beautiful ring” on the fly at Rocks the Jeweler inside the Hard Rock Hotel before running “back to Wasted Space [to propose on-stage at] the strike of midnight, and the change of the date to Jan. 9 — his birthday!”

Yep, that’s sweet. Even sweet enough to make headlines for a little while, I’d say. Congratulations, AJ and Rochelle!

I think I said I was happy for him. I think I actually said that it was super cute and sweet the way he proposed. There’s no need to get nasty.
