It came as somewhat of a shock to most of us when we found out that Charlie Sheen spent Christmas Day behind bars due to the fact that he spent early that same morning choking and threatening his wife, Brooke Mueller. But it seems that this isn’t a shock to everyone and that even if they didn’t know that something such as violent and intense as this was on the horizon, the fact that Brooke and Charlie were having problems wasn’t a secret. And the fact that Charlie and Brooke were in Aspen together? They weren’t whisking themselves away on a romantic holiday getaway. They weren’t celebrating the holidays privately as a family and away from the Hollywood crazy. Brooke had actually been holed up there for weeks with their two sons, when Charlie decided to pop in to spend some time for the holidays. Yep, nuthin like good ol’ holiday time choking and threatening the ones we love. From Star,
“Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller’s marriage was in shambles in the weeks leading up to their Christmas day scuffle. Brooke even moved out of their L.A. home for five days in late November and stayed at the nearby Beverly Wilshire hotel before renting a place in Aspen, Star reports in our new issue — on newsstands Wednesday.
Still, Charlie flew to Aspen to spend the holidays with Brooke and their 9-month-old sons, Max and Bob. But things went terribly wrong when the Two and a Half Men star found himself in an Aspen, Colo., jail cell charged with felony domestic abuse charges after he reportedly choked Brooke after a night of drinking.
On Monday, the 911 call from Brooke was released and on it she tells the dispatcher Charlie threatened her with a knife. According to a report from RadarOnline.com, things came to a head when Brooke told Charlie she wanted a divorce.
Charlie was arrested on suspicion of second degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief in connection with a domestic violence incident. He posted $8,500 bail and has been ordered to appear in court in February, 2010.”
The online version of the story in Star didn’t even quote an anonymous source of any sort so, I am skeptical as to the truth of this story. I do have an inkling to believe the bit that comes from Radar Online but that is an actual source that is generally somewhat reliable. But even that bit of news is events that happened on that actual day, and not the weeks leading up to it. Still, even if there are no sources, the shoe does fit for this story, doesn’t it? They’re unhappy, Brooke threatens divorce and takes off with the kids. And he’s Charlie Sheen so he takes the most dramatic approach possible. Yep, this bit is probably true after all.
