It seems the Gosselin family just isn’t going to die out of the media anytime soon. From the bank account situation, to Kate constantly breaking down into tears on television, and Jon doing just about anything, there’s always plenty to talk about if you are at all still interested in the Gosselin mess. If you are however, this time there does seem to be a bit of refreshing news.
It’s not the same old, ‘Jon out in bars/Jon claiming he was abused’ mess. It’s actually Jon owning up to the things he’s done and actually apologizing for them! Mind you, this all screams to me that someone from Jon’s PR firm sat down with him and gave him a good talking to about what he’s doing to his own reputation, never mind what it’s going to do to him in court, but regardless. Whatever the reason for Jon deciding to start finally acting like a grown up, I applaud it. From Star,
“Jon Gosselin and Hailey Glassman are still together — kinda!
Speaking at New York City’s West Side Jewish Center on Sunday, Jon explained, “We decided not to take a break, just slow things down, until I get through my divorce and I know everything is settled and okay.”
Jon added, “I don’t want another failure in my relationships. I don’t want to make the same mistakes I made with Kate, with Hailey. I would just be repeating the pattern over again.”
Jon also used the media op to apologize for losing his moral compass. “Half of the stuff that I’ve done, I shouldn’t have done… I was looking for the affirmation at the clubs and bars that I wasn’t getting from Kate at home.”
Jon added, “I didn’t feel respected. She always said I was the ninth child, and I felt like the ninth child.”
Still, Jon hopes Kate can forgive him for his erratic behavior. “I’ll apologize to her for openly having relationships in the public eye. That was a huge mistake, because if she would’ve done that to me, I would have been extremely pissed off.”
So yeah, with Kate’s impending appearance on TLC tonight, it does sort of seem to me like Jon might just be making a desperate attempt to make things easier on himself when he tells a judge that he doesn’t want to pay any child support. But I have to give him credit for the public apology to Kate because the way he treated her after news of the separation was truly just despicable. I don’t overlook the fact either that even though he does apologize to her here, he also still blames all of his behavior, ultimately, on Kate. But, I digress…
