Well it seems that all of the crying and trash-talking Kate Gosselin did over her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, at the beginning of the month seems to have paid off. Literally. We all know by now that Jon withdrew pretty much all the money from the couple’s joint account earlier this month. And if we hadn’t found out from the tabloids alone, Kate went everywhere, including the Today Show and The View, to talk about how she now had no money to take care of her kids. While I did feel a little bad for her, I realized at the time that if Jon really had taken the money without permission that the courts probably would make him give it back. And that’s just what they’ve done. Although, from my calculations, Jon was still able to make off with about $55,000 which, considering what he used to make as part of the show, is next to nothing. And even that he may have to give back at some point. But this whole thing has left Kate a little more under the microscope, legally speaking anyway. She will not be responsible for accounting for just about every penny that she spends. From People,
“Consider Jon Gosselin the kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
The reality-show dad, 32, has been ordered by a Pennsylvania judge to return $180,000 to a joint bank account he shares with estranged wife Kate Gosselin, 34, a source close to Kate confirms.
It’s part of $232,000 that Kate claimed Jon took from the account against their divorce arbitrator’s explicit orders.
“The remaining sum of $55,000, which Ms. Gosselin used for household bills and expenses relating to the children, will be subject to further determination by the arbitrator at a later date,” Kate’s lawyer, Mark Momjian says in a statement out Tuesday.
“As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the Court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children. Now that this matter has been ruled on, I look forward to returning to private arbitration, as we have agreed to do, to resolve any remaining issues,” Kate Gosselin adds.
If Jon doesn’t pony up the cash by Oct. 26, the judge will haul him back to face potential contempt charges. Kate, for her part, by the same date has to detail what expenses she’s been spending money on.”
I’m sure that when it goes back to “private” arbitration, we will still hear much, way too much, about the ugly divorce that this couple is going through. It really bothers me that both of these people have said in the past that they don’t like being in the spotlight so much and appearing on the cover of every tabloid. Yet, whenever the latest scandal occurs, both of them go blabbing to the media about it. And I really despise when Kate says (repeatedly), “I didn’t want to have to talk publicly about these things.” Or, “I have always been hoping that we could keep private matters private.” Please. You know how you keep things private? By not talking about them! And I watched her on the Today Show and no one was holding a gun to her head forcing her to speak out on the money issue.
Heck, I just despise both of them. I don’t even understand why the public is still so interested in these people. The TV show isn’t even on TV anymore! So, why are these people still famous? Will we now be talking about them forever because once upon a time they had a TV show about their family?
