Rachel McAdams Has Loving Words for Kids and Her Mom

I have to admit that before Rachel McAdams had her on-again/off-again relationship with Ryan Gosling, I had no idea who she was. But I’m glad I took the time to learn about her some because the more I read about her, the more I like her. She’s currently doing crazy promotion for her newest movie The Time Traveler’s Wife. And some of that promo included stopping to talk to People at the premiere of the movie on Wednesday. During the interview she talked about how much she loved the kids she worked with on the set, and how much she admires her mom. See? You just gotta love people who gush about their parents. From People,

“Playing a mother on the big screen for the first time might’ve given Rachel McAdams a taste for becoming a mom herself.

“Having a few [kids] would be great,” McAdams told PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of The Time Traveler’s Wife on Wednesday, adding that she’s “looking forward to it someday.”

Playing opposite Eric Bana in the romantic drama, the Canadian actress says it was a role that she very much enjoyed. “I was excited and nervous about it because I haven’t done it before. It was a welcome challenge,” she said. “The little girls [Hailey McCann and Tatum McCann] in this film were so fantastic. They are real sisters and they made my job really easy. So I didn’t have to work too hard at that.”

When the day does arrive for McAdams, 30, to be a mom, she hopes to have the same qualities as her own mother. “My mom is a great inspiration to me,” she said. “She’s a nurse and very nurturing and gentle. She lets me be who I am. Hopefully I can take on those qualities and be as great as her.”

When pressed for the best way to cope with heartache or breakups she said, “It’s different for everyone. If it’s eating ice cream, do what you love. Just have a good time. That’s what I would do.”

And with the intensity that her and Ryan Gosling had, I’m sure their breakup included lots of ice cream and lots of having good times. Or at least trying to. I’m glad that Rachel has broken away from the role of the other half of the McAdams/Gosling couple. It has made me see her as a serious actress, not just part of a couple. And I can’t help but think that if it’s made me see her in a different light, it might have helped others do the same too. Rock on, Rachel! You’ve got a new fan in me!

No, no, no. She has a relationship with Ryan ‘Gosling’ not Ryan ‘Reynolds’!
