It’s even refreshing for me when I read a Brad Pitt interview that doesn’t make me want to lose my lunch. That’s why I was so happy I started my day off with this interview from the Pittster, in which he explains why him and Angelina Jolie haven’t yet gotten married. Now, I talk a lot of flack about these two but their decision to not get married, even though they have 6 children, has never bothered me. I’m one of those types that believes that having that piece of paper doesn’t really change anything and although, Brad’s reasons for not marrying are different than mine, I still get where he’s coming from. I don’t understand why religious groups and others are always so bothered about couples living together without being married. We’ve been in the new millennium for awhile now. It may be time for people to get with it. And I think on that point, Brad and I see eye to eye. From Pop Crunch,
“Brad Pitt has once again defended his and partner Angeline Jolie’s decision not to get married, despite their six children; Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox; explaining that their decision stems from their belief that all people should equal access to the institution of marriage.
“I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I’ve had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment,” the Inglorious Basterds star said in a new interview with Parade Magazine’s Sunday, August 9 edition.
“I have love in my life, a soul mate — absolutely,” he said. “When someone asked me why Angie and I don’t get married, I replied, ‘Maybe we’ll get married when it’s legal for everyone else.’ I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it — hate mail from religious groups.”
So on this, Brad and Angelina have my support. Like I said, it’s a nice change for once.
