Jon and Kate Get Along for the Fourth

Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin are getting a divorce and it looks like it might be the best thing for the family. The ex-couple were both at their home in Wernersville, Pennsylvania on Saturday so that they could celebrate the Fourth of July as a family, with both of them, and their kids. It looks like now that Jon and Kate aren’t bound to each other for eternity, they seem to be getting along better than ever. Kate has said ever since the two announced their divorce that there would never be a holiday in which she wasn’t with her kids. And it looks like that’s turning out to be true. From Gossip Girls,

“Though they are on their way to a divorce, Jon and Kate Gosselin were civil enough to celebrate the 4th of July with their kids over the weekend.

The “Jon and Kate Plus 8” family was spotted having an Independence Day picnic at theirmassive home in Wernersville, Pennsylvania, looking to be getting along just fine.

Among the activities they enjoyed were a volleyball game and a blueberry-picking expedition to help Kate bake a delicious pie.

Of their resolve to do whatever they can for their kids, Kate told press, “Jon pointed to the July 4 holiday and said, ‘What are we going to do about that?’ I absolutely cannot imagine not spending every single holiday with my kids. I don’t care what it takes. I will be there.”

Mind you, none of us were there so we don’t really know how the day went or what words that were exchanged between Kate and Jon. But I would think that there’s a lot less to fight about now. And among the many pictures that Gossip Girls provides, there’s one of Jon talking on his cell phone – no doubt to his girlfriend, Deanna Hummel or one of his many other mistresses. But still, they managedto come together so that the kids could celebrate a somewhat normal holiday. And since TLC wasn’t there filming it, it was probably one of the most normal festivities these kids have ever had!

Jon & Kate: Plus Eight has been put on hiatus until August by TLC and I’m hoping that they never, ever bring it back. I think the halt of the show has probably done a lot of good for these kids and has allowed them to experience a much more typical childhood than being reality stars ever did. Hopefully, everyone will see that it’s much better this way and the family will do now what needs to be done, and stop worrying so much about how much money they’re making in the meanwhile.
