Rihanna Will Take the Stand Today

Rihanna is most likely going to take the stand today to tell the L.A. courts what really happened the night that Chris Brown beat her in January. Unfortunately, this testimony probably won’t lock Brown up for good like he deserves but it will determine whether or not the case is to go to trial, which is one step closer at least.

Rihanna has said all along that she will be fully cooperative and that she will answer all questions truthfully. I can’t see why she wouldn’t now, after she considered taking Brown back and he somehow managed to screw that up too. I bet there’s some pretty bitter feelings there that she’s looking to bring to court with her today. Or maybe I’m just hoping so. From Digital Spy,

“Rihanna is expected to take the stand this afternoon as a witness in the assault case of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

The ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ star has been called to give evidence against Brown, 20, in relation to an alleged altercation between the pair in the early hours of February 8.

Brown pleaded not guilty to assault and making criminal threats in relation to the alleged attack earlier this year. If convicted, he could face up to four years behind bars.

Alan Parachini, a spokesperson for the LA Criminal Court, has said that the hearing could last for two or three hours and that the judge will then decide whether there is enough evidence to bring the case to trial.

The case against Brown has been built on what Rihanna told the police following the alleged attack and photographs taken shortly after the incident which appear to show her bloodied and bruised.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Parachini said that 52 media outlets had requested to attend the proceedings, saying: “I’ve never seen this kind of interest and I’ve been here seven years.”

Cameras have been banned from the courtroom, but it is thought that CCTV will be allowed so that proceedings can be transmitted to another room in order to accommodate the huge media interest.

Rihanna’s lawyer previously said that she would answer “all questions truthfully”, although there is no guarantee that prosecutors will call her to the stand.”

It surprises me that the LA courts haven’t seen this kind of media interest before. And it really surprises me that they’re surprised such a high-profile case has such an interest. Hopefully Rihanna is called to the stand and I can only hope that she has the strength for it. I can’t imagine that’s a pleasant experience for anyone. Even if you are looking to burn the other person.
