Who Exactly is in Denial?

Chris Brown attended his arraignment yesterday to enter his plea for allegedly beating his girlfriend, Rihanna, half to death including strangling and biting her, oh, and making criminal threats and then leaving her unconscious for the police to find. To start the hearing off, Right Celebrity is reporting that Brown showed up 30 minutes late. Nice. Nothing to show a little disrespect than making everyone wait for your sorry ass. Then, because he’s such a man, and so willing to stand up and face what he did, entered a plea of not guilty.

Now a second hearing is scheduled for later this month. Until this second hearing, Brown has time to try and reach an agreement with Rihanna and if that can’t be done, this second hearing will probably set a trial date. However, none of that, outside of reaching an agreement with Rihanna, will happen. The agreement will end up being Chris promising to never, ever do it again and Rihanna thanking him and oozing about how much she loves him. Then the whole thing will be forgotten about. But – all of this aside. Rihanna’s dad, Ronald Fenty, who has been incredibly outspoken about the whole ordeal has once again turned to the media to voice his opinion over the ‘not guilty’ plea. From US,

“Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, told Usmagazine.com exclusively that Brown “needs to stop being in denial” about what he did.

“So what happened? Somebody else did this to Rihanna then?” Fenty told Us. “I just would like to see justice go in the right direction.”

“I don’t want his career to be damaged — it’s damaged already,” Fenty told Us Monday. “I think he’s a talented guy, but everybody should have to pay. When you do the crime, you do the time. I don’t want to see him locked up for a long time — I just want him to acknowledge and get some help.”

If Brown claims to be not guilty, Fenty wants to know who is responsible.

He added: “Now he’s going to go beyond that and it could go longer, it can be even worse. It can be worse for him in the long run.”

I completely understand the man’s anger. He’s talking about the person who beat his daughter to a pulp. But I think Chris Brown has proven what type of person he is, long before this hearing yesterday. If Fenty really wants to get something done about it, I hope he sees that the only person who can make that happen is his daughter and that she’s the person he should be talking to. As for this turning out worse in the long run, it will. But only for Rihanna. She’ll go running back to him and he’ll hit her again. As for it getting worse for him from this particular incident, it’s not going to happen. Rihanna has already forgotten about it and therefore so should we. It’s done.
