David Cook Isn’t Feeling the Love

This story somewhat disappoints me as I am a huge fan of David Cook’s. But maybe his newfound stardom is going to his head a little bit. He first blew off his relationship with girlfriend, Kimberly Caldwell, so that he could be a free man and explore his options and now it seems, he doesn’t even want to be tied down by fans. Apparently, he’s been getting the barrage of usual fantics, including things being left on his bus, phone calls to his hotel room, and people camping out hoping to get just a glimpse of this star-on-the-rise. But David isn’t extremely appreciative of this outpouring of love and in fact, he kinda wants you to stop. From Daily Blabber,

“Well, the Idol champ doesn’t seem to be handling the hoards of groupies very well, as he posted this message on his MySpace celebrity blog, under the heading “Attention”.

Hey everyone,

First off, I want to say thank you toeveryone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post. The vibe at these shows has been amazing.

Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you.

I hope this doesn’t come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows we have coming up. Take care and see you at the next show.

I totally get what David is saying. No one wants their privacy totallyinvaded like that and it must be frustrating to not get much peace. BUT. This is the price you pay for having those millions of dollars and living the life of the rich and famous. If you didn’t want it, you should have dropped out the second you realized you might actually win the damn contest. He also comes off very patronizing and really, I don’t think he’s earned the status quo to do that just yet. Let me repeat that I love David and am a huge, huge fan. I just hope I can continue to be and that he doesn’t let his ego get in the way of something that could be really great.
