John and Kelly’s Strength

Ever since the tragic death of their son, Jett, in January, John Travolta and Kelly Preston have undoubtedly have been to hell and back and made the trip at least three times. The world has been pretty good about leaving them be – especially with the whole extortion attempt that seemed to have been handled pretty quickly – and now ‘a source close to the family’ is speaking out about how the family is doing. From Contact Music,

“Hollywood couple JOHN TRAVOLTA and KELLY PRESTON are slowly overcoming the grief of losing their teenage son last month (Jan09) – for the sake of their young daughter.
Jett Travolta died at the beginning of January after suffering a seizure while on a family vacation in the Bahamas.
But a source close to the family insists they are gradually coming to terms with their loss, so eight year old Ella can live as normal a life as possible.
The insider tells People.com, “(They are) regrouping and pushing through the grieving process. They are trying to grieve and return to some sort of normalcy for Ella. But life isn’t normal without Jett.”
The devastated actors have also been forced to face the controversy of a botched bribery plot involving an ambulance driver who took Jett to hospital on 2 January.
The source adds, “They were so hurt by the moochers (conmen). But things have calmed down. Every day it gets better.”

I imagine this is the kind of grief that no one ever really gets over but I also can’t imagine the kind of strength it takes to get through it. To not only lose your son but have to also face legal battles with people trying to make money off of it is just so profoundly horrible. For them to try and live their grief, feel it, and move on for the sake of their other child just proves what dedicated parents these two are, and what incredible strength they have. We continue to send our thoughts to the family as they continue to heal.
