Dennis Quaid Reaches a Settlement

I’m generally not one for celebrities who already have a ton of money to gouge people for every dime they have, as we so often see in the nasty divorces that take place in Hollywood, but when someone has harmed your children, I don’t care who you are, I hope you get every dime that you can! Such is the case with Dennis Quaid, who sued Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after his twin babies almost died of a lethal overdose. I remember this story when it first happened and I watched an interview in which Quaid said that his baby girl and boy were given far too much blood thinner and as a result, he said ‘blood was coming out of every orifice of their bodies.’ I can’t imagine watching a more terrible thing happen to your kids and now Quaid has received some retribution – in the form of a £500,000 settlement with the hospital. From Digital Spy,

“Dennis Quaid has agreed a settlement of around £500,000 from a hospital that gave his newborn babies a potentially lethal overdose.

Twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were accidentally injected with 1,000 times the recommended dose of blood thinner heparin, shortly after their birth at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles last year.

Documents filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court yesterday show that The Day After Tomorrow star and his wife Kimberly have accepted a cash settlement from the hospital but are continuing with their lawsuit against the drug manufacturer.

The couple are alleging that Baxter Healthcare Corp failed to properly label the medication which led to the massive overdose. “

Yep, I hope that he wins his lawsuit with the drug manufacturer even more than I would have hoped that he won against the hospital. I suspect that he will win even more in that one. Quaid spoke out a few months ago about the health of his baby girl, Zoe Grace, and his son, Thomas Boone, and he was happy to report that everyone was doing just fine.
