Michelle Talks about Heath

Michelle Williams may not speak publicly very often (let’s be honest, she doesn’t need to – her class shines on its own) but when she does, people usually sit up and take notice. This coming January will mark the one-year anniversary of the death of her ex-fiance, and father to their daughter, Matilda, Heath Ledger. Although she was seen at the memorial service, and we have seen through photos with Matilda and Michelle rushing off to work, that life does seem to be getting back to normal for her but it’s clear that there’s still a large part of Heath that she carries around with her every day. From the Daily Blabber,

“It’s so sad,” she tells Newsweek, breaking into tears.

“I guess it’s always changing,” she said of the way she’s been handling the death of her former love and father of her daughter, Matilda.

“What else can I say?” the actress said after a pause. “I just wake up each day in a slightly different place — grief is like a moving river, so that’s what I mean by ‘it’s always changing.”

“It’s a strange thing to say,” Michelle continued, “because I’m at heart an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It’s just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That’s what I would say.”

It’s funny because it’s such an odd way of looking at things – so the opposite of the ‘time heals all wounds’ speech that people generally give when something as tragic as this happens. Still though, I think everyone can see her point about how sometimes it really does just get harder and that actually becomes one of the worst parts about it, is that it doesn’t seem to be getting better. I feel so sad for her and little Matilda and know that they will always do Heath proud by being the beautiful and graceful ladies that they are! I hope for them that time does eventually help to heal these wounds and that although this will not pass, that the memories of loving him become more frequent than those of losing him.
