Clay Aiken is Gay!!

Another confirmation on something that doesn’t need to be confirmed – Clay Aiken is gay! It seems that the 29 year old, who recently became a dad with his best friend who was artificially inseminated, has had the awakening that many parents get as soon as that little one looks at you for the first time. It’s that thing that shows you what’s important and lets you free yourself from all the other crap that you have always thought of as priorities. From Celebitchy,

“Clay Aiken has finally come out of the closet and confirmed that he is gay – to People magazine no less. Clay, 29, became a dad for the first time recently. His best friend Jaymes Foster was artificially inseminated and gave birth in August. The pair said they planned to raise their son together, though it was clear even before Clay came out that they were just good friends.

Perez Hilton has a copy of the October 4th edition of People. It has Clay on the cover, holding his son, and the headline “YES, I’M GAY. The Idol star opens up about his emotional decision to come out: ‘I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things.’”

I really am very happy for Clay and think that he’s right in his thinking that parents need to be honest with their children and to do that, you need to be honest and keep true to yourself. I have thought in the past that Clay Aiken seemed a little immature and maybe this is the first sign that having this baby was a good thing for him and maybe it will force him to grow up a little.

Clay immature? The same Clay who has been in Afghanistan, Uganda, Somalia, Banda Aceh, Mexico for UNICEF? The same Clay that founded a service foundation for inclusion of children with special needs, a foundation that has raised millions and helped fund camps and teaching tools for inclusion? The same Clay that has spoken before Congress more than once on issues affecting the ones with no or minimal voice in matters? The same Clay who helped raise almost $500,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids? The same Clay that, while snarky and smartass at times, has always been respected by his fellow co workers, his work ethic highly appreciated. The same Clay that only cancelled two concerts in all his tours due to illness, and two shows in Spamalot for the same.

I don’t know…seems fairly mature to me.

Anyways, not to give a lecture, not my intent, but the man really is more than the tabloids have pushed to the general public. Do some research.
