Sparks Makes Stupid Remarks

I was quite angry when Jordin Sparks won the sixth season of American Idol. There’s just something about this girl that really bothers me. She has stupid facial expressions when she sings, she tries to act all cutesy in front of the camera and it turns my stomache and I really think that Simon Cowell was right when he said that she may just be too young to handle the spotlight. She proved this point herself last night at the VMAs when she indicated that anyone who has sex before marriage is a slut. It’s okay though, she clarified it by saying ‘guy or girl’ so I guess she’s at least not sexist in her thinking.

The remarks came in response to comments that Russell Brand, who hosted the show, had made earlier in the show when he poked fun at the Jonas Brothers for wearing promise rings. Here’s what People reports about it,

Jordin Sparks spoke out against the British comedian’s jokes about the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings before introducing T.I.’s performance.

“I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring,” Sparks, 18, told the crowd, off-the-cuff, “because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut.”

Sparks has long spoken publicity about holding onto her virginity. She, too, wears a purity ring.

Later, Brand returned to the stage to offer an apology of sorts.

“I didn’t meant to take it lightly,” the host said about his purity ring remarks. “I don’t want to piss off teenage fans.” Still, Brand, whose apology soon morphed into a series of off-color jokes, said, “Promise rings, I’m well up for it. [But] a bit of sex, it never hurt anybody.”

Although Brand was forced to offer that very unecessary apology, I’m glad that he still maintained his point. Being that it’s okay to wear promise rings and ‘save yourself’ however, it’s also okay to have sex if you want. I’m so sick of these stars who act like they’re so much better than everyone else because they go outside of the norm and have ‘pure’ values – it’s a bunch of crap.

Amen to that. I don’t believe in the institution of marriage but i haven’t had sex either…not intentional either way because unlike everyone else, I couldn’t care less whether someone is a virgin or not and i’m not obsessed with people’s sexuality-Really when i meet you, that’s not the first (or last) thing that pops into my head, rather i think about what KIND of a person you are. That’s what America needs-less judgement, because you don’t hear talk about a celeb’s virginity in magazines from other countries. They only think badly of you usually if you are a train-wreck like Amy Winehouse who ruined herself through extensive drug use.

I totally agree with this article! Jordin is a little biatch. I remember when she was on Idol, and some girl forgot her lyrics…the girl was a little embarrassed. Then Jordin sang her song and when Ryan talked with her after she was done, Jordin said, “I didn’t forget my lyrics.”
That was so rude! Everyone knows the other girl forgot her lyrics, Jordin sure as hell doesn’t have to rub it in. It’s not like Jordin is better than anybody else either. She has a good voice, but the songs she sings seem to be a little childish.
Her attitude makes me sick. Yes, Simon was right…she was to young for the contest.
If she wants to stay a virgin till she is married, then good for her. She doesn’t have the right to label others as sluts.
