Star Jones and Al Reynolds are filing for a divorce, after being married for about three and a half years… Which isn’t so bad when you consider most celebrity marriages last in terms of months, not years. Star Jones was especially regretful over having brought paparazzi and media coverage into her romantic life. Hindsight is a bitch like that. From In Touch:
“Nearly three-and-a-half years after their wedding, estimated to cost $1 million, Star Jones and Al Reynolds have called it quits. “Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life,” Star said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone’s life that requires privacy with one’s thoughts,” she adds. Despite the separation, Star is staying positive. “I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger wiser woman,” she says.”
Why is it that “strong Hollywood women” are usually strong when they’re going through a divorce? Why weren’t they trying to be strong in their marriages? Don’t get me wrong, I support a woman’s choice to divorce from her husband whole-heartedly. But in this day and age, with so many people making a mockery of something as sacred and beautiful as marriage, what’s the point of even getting married? Isn’t there a better way to go about stealing half of someone’s property and assets? And what about other women, that stay married? Are they weak because they prefer to continue supporting their husbands and working through difficult times? Hell no. Getting married and then calling it quits over petty shit, that’s weak, no matter how you dress it up.
