Holly Madison has been most well-known for her Playboy centerfolds, being Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend, and for playing her part on the reality TV show Girls Next Door is now known for something else. Well, sort of. She’s still taking her clothes off but this time it’s for a good cause, PETA.
PETA is of course the activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They are most known for their eccentric ways and now they seem to think that having Holly pose for their advertising will get people’s attention. And they’re probably right. Softpedia says,
“The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA to put it more simply, have found the perfect recipe to getting people’s attention in what regards an issue that should concern us all: posters with naked chicks. The idea is positively brilliant but the latest campaign just goes to show that there is always room for improvement.”
Now I have to say that I don’t disagree with them. I am all for getting people’s attention and this platform will certainly do that. However, it needs to be taken into consideration that this just once again portrays women, especially blondes, as bimbos who can’t wait to take their clothes off. Hopefully, those who see this ad will have the presence of mind to understand that this is an actual bimbo and not a girl who just decided, “Hey, I’m gonna strip for a good cause.” And, I gotta ask. Is this ethical treatment of people?
